About Me and My Stuff.

I'm Sophie, and I'm a qualified counsellor registered with the Australian Counselling Association; Mental Health First Aid Trainer and all round mental health and wellbeing advisor, consultant and advocate. I have a prior lived experience of mental ill-health myself, which has played a big role in me doing this work.

I have extensive experience providing counselling support to people in acute crisis through my work with Lifeline since 2020, and have also assisted with the training, mentoring and support of volunteers.

Within the suicide prevention space, I have worked as a lived experience advisor and consultant for businesses, organisations and government departments around Australia. I have spearheaded a number of grassroots community mental health initiatives, and am interested in finding new, creative ways to provide mental health support to people and communities.

Before my work in the mental health space, I worked in media (film, TV & advertising) so I am able to effectively support people who are working in creative spaces and high stress environments. As a counsellor, I am equipped to support people with a variety of issues as outlined here, but have a particular interest in anxiety, grief & loss and relationships.

I’m passionate about helping and supporting people with the tough stuff in life, whether that be through counselling, advocacy, training, or sharing knowledge and experiences.

The Self Care Stuff.

You've may have heard the saying you can't pour from an empty cup?

I know better than anyone that self care is a key part of mental wellbeing, especially for me as a practitioner.

For me, I refill my cup by watching TV shows I enjoy (yes, this sometimes includes trashy reality TV), spending time with friends and family, going to restaurants and cafes, going for an ocean dip, and of course, spending time with my loveable Labrador Rose.
